Learned about this stuff years ago, could buy a set of chrome wheels that were rusted up and looked like hell soak them in Naval Jelly and they would come out looking great. Flitz has something in common with the lemon juice recipes - an acid base that will really take the nickel off. I would avoid it, honestly. There is one other polish available that does a great job, really - but it is very, very, very expensive.

I've used it to polish knife blades after hand forging them but it's way too abrasive to use on a nickel finish (jewelers rouge leaves a matte finish on knife blades, not a fine mirror finish like a nickel gun).
