I had to cut 1/4 inch from each side of the stem and it works. However, and not related to the modification, the backrest is rather flimsy and bends easily, NOT at the flat stem point, but at the point where the stem bends to attach to the pad.

It came in yesterday, and I installed it only to find out that it pushes me around 3" to 4" forward, so my crotch is up on the fuel tank.
