WebbHe is the great-grandson of James P. McAllister who emigrated from Cushendall, Co. Antrim and in 1864 founded a lighterage (A lighter carries cargo from ship to shore) company in New York harbor. This family-owned business, now called McAllister Towing Incorporated, is one of the last surviving tugboat operations in New York City waters today. James had four sons and six daughters in his first marriage and all the sons grew up working in the business, along with an assortment of cousins and other relatives.
